About Us

TEKH.INSTITUTE is a non-governmental organization established in Lusaka, Zambia (registered as TEKHSMART ZAMBIA, Certificate No. NGO/101/0833/18), with active programs in Zambia and expanding initiatives in The Gambia, West Africa. Our foundation is dedicated to bridging the digital divide by promoting access to technology, particularly for young people in underserved communities across The Gambia.

Since our inception, we have been committed to fostering computer literacy, providing technological resources, and building a foundation for AI and information technology skills that prepare Gambian youth for the digital future.

What We Do


Technology Access Programs

  • Computer Donation Initiatives: We collect, refurbish, and distribute computers to schools, community centers, and educational institutions across The Gambia.
  • Tech Hub Establishment: Creating accessible technology centers in rural and urban areas where young people can access computers, internet, and learning resources. –
  • Mobile Technology Labs: Bringing technology directly to remote communities through our mobile computer labs equipped with laptops, tablets, and educational software.

Fundraising Activities

  • Global Partnership Programs: Collaborating with international organizations, tech companies, and educational institutions.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives: Working with businesses to channel resources toward tech education in The Gambia.
  • Community Fundraising Events: Engaging local and diaspora communities in supporting our mission through various events and campaigns.

Summer Tech Initiatives

Tech Summer Camp

Our annual Tech Summer Camp brings together young Gambians aged 12-18 for an immersive experience in coding, digital content creation, robotics, AI basics, and team innovation challenges.

Teacher Technology Training

A specialized summer program for educators to enhance their digital teaching skills, develop technology-integrated lesson plans, and learn how to effectively use educational technology in their classrooms.

Summer Tech Innovation Challenge

An intensive competition where young innovators collaborate to develop technological solutions to specific challenges facing their communities, with winners receiving mentorship and seed funding to implement their ideas.

Digital Literacy Family Program

A unique summer initiative that brings together parents and children to learn digital skills together, fostering intergenerational technology knowledge sharing and promoting safe, productive use of technology in the home.
